Comprehensive book services

Every author has a unique vision. Our services are designed to meet you exactly where you are in the writing process and carry you forward with clarity and confidence.

Developmental editing

We examine the architecture of your book — narrative arc, chapter structure, pacing, character development, and argument flow. Our developmental editors provide a detailed editorial letter alongside in-line suggestions, giving you a clear roadmap for your next revision. This service is ideal for first drafts and manuscripts that need structural guidance before line-level polish.

Copy editing and proofreading

Once your manuscript's structure is solid, our copy editors refine every sentence for grammar, consistency, style-guide adherence, and readability. Our proofreaders then perform a final sweep to catch any remaining typos, formatting errors, or punctuation issues. We work in both British and American English conventions, depending on your target readership.

Book formatting and design

A beautifully typeset interior and a striking cover can make or break a reader's first impression. We handle interior layout for both print and e-book formats, including chapter headers, drop caps, image placement, and table of contents generation. Our design team also creates custom cover artwork that captures the essence of your story.

Publishing strategy and marketing

Navigating the publishing landscape — whether traditional, hybrid, or self-publishing — requires informed strategy. We help you evaluate options, prepare query letters and book proposals, optimise metadata for discoverability, and build a pre-launch marketing plan that includes social media, email campaigns, and review outreach.

From idea to finished book in five steps

Our process is transparent and collaborative. You will always know where your project stands and what comes next.

1

Initial consultation

We start with a free 30-minute call to understand your book's genre, goals, timeline, and budget. This conversation helps us recommend the right combination of services and assign the editor best suited to your project.

2

Sample edit and proposal

Before you commit, we edit a sample chapter or a selection of pages at no charge. You will receive a detailed proposal outlining scope, pricing, and estimated turnaround so there are no surprises.

3

Deep editorial work

Your assigned editor works through the full manuscript, providing tracked changes, margin comments, and an editorial summary. For developmental projects, this phase may include multiple rounds of feedback and revision coaching.

4

Design and formatting

Once the text is finalised, our design team creates the interior layout and cover. You will review proofs and request adjustments until every page looks exactly as you envisioned.

5

Launch support

We prepare print-ready and digital files, assist with platform uploads, and provide a marketing checklist to help your book find its audience from day one.

Rooted in Galway, serving authors worldwide

Our editorial office sits in the heart of Connacht, drawing creative energy from the same landscapes that inspired Yeats, Lady Gregory, and countless modern Irish writers. While our roots are local, our reach is global — we work with authors across Europe, North America, and beyond through secure digital workflows and video consultations.

Every member of our team holds an advanced degree in English, publishing, or a related field, and brings at least five years of hands-on editorial experience. We are readers first, editors second, and advocates for your story always.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a typical book edit take?
Turnaround depends on the manuscript length and the type of editing required. A developmental edit for a standard-length novel (80,000–100,000 words) typically takes four to six weeks. Copy editing and proofreading are faster, usually two to three weeks. We always agree on a timeline before work begins and keep you updated throughout.
Do you work with self-publishing authors?
Absolutely. A significant portion of our clients choose to self-publish, and we support them with the same rigour we bring to traditionally published projects. We can also advise on platform selection, pricing strategy, and ISBN registration.
What genres do you specialise in?
Our editors have deep experience across literary fiction, commercial fiction (thriller, romance, fantasy, science fiction), memoir, biography, business and self-help, academic texts, and children's books. During the consultation, we match you with an editor who knows your genre intimately.
How is pricing structured?
We charge per word for editing services, with rates varying by edit type and complexity. Formatting and design projects are quoted on a per-project basis. After the sample edit, you will receive a transparent quote with no hidden fees. Payment plans are available for larger projects.
Can I see samples of your previous work?
Yes. During the consultation we can share anonymised before-and-after samples from past projects in your genre. We also maintain a portfolio of cover designs and interior layouts that you are welcome to review.
